Catholic Spiritual Development

St. Mary's is Catholic school community. Students are taught to know, love and serve God as an integral part of their daily lives. Our parish priest, Father Stephen Sledesky, joins us frequently for community prayer, classroom time and other events throughout our school day.

Mass: Our students attend Mass on the first or second Tuesday of the month and on Holy Days of Obligation. Our students take on leadership roles during Masses while serving as altar servers, gift bears, lectors and members of the choir. We encourage family participation in these Masses to help deepen our connections as a school community.

Sacraments: Our 2nd grade students prepare for and receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and Holy Communion. Our graduating 8th grade students are also fully prepared to enter their parish's Confirmation preparation program in 9th grade.

Service Projects: Each year our school participates in Simsbury's "Turkey Trot" non-perishable food drive along with various other service opportunities. Students in 7th and 8th grade visit the Simsbury Senior Center each Wednesday to serve and clean up lunch for area seniors. Other service projects have included the collection of gently used coats for neighbors in need, Macy's "Make a Wish", cards for veterans and a year long initiative working in conjunction with the House of Bread in Hartford.

"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, β€˜It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35
