CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHINGS IN ACTION

Acting as the hands of Christ, our school seeks opportunities to serve others. Within our school community, special effort is made during Lent and Advent to be attuned to the needs of others. During Lent, members of the school community have acted as prayer buddies for one another. In these prayers, we have sought to remember the needs of our buddy in a special way. During Advent, good deeds are encouraged and when observed in action are written on slips of paper to create a soft manger for the Baby Jesus. On a practical level, our Pastor and administration are sensitive to the financial considerations that may impact a family that has made the commitment to Catholic education. Tuition assistance is available.

We recognize that in living an authentic Christian life, acts are as vital as good intentions and so, our school community actively participates in many service projects each year. These service projects sometimes address the needs of our immediate area and occasionally take a more global approach. In recent years, our schedule of service projects has included the collection of healthy breakfast foods for the town's food pantry, the collection of new and gently used coats, a drive to collect toys for Christmas giving, and a collection of toys and games to be sent to a serviceman serving in Iraq for distribution to Iraqi children. In past years, we have partnered with our parish youth group in the collection of canned soups for "Souper Bowl Sunday" and with the parish social action committee in the collection of winter hats and coats.
